About Cowgirl Camp Wyoming:

Cowgirl Camp is a unique opportunity to ride through remote wilderness, build pratical backcountry horsemanship skills and spend a weekend alongside an incredible group of horsewomen.

Cowgirl Camp is brought to you in partnership with Wilderness Trails Outfitters (@wildernesstrailsoutfitters), Brianna Galloway (@loki_toki) and Alexandra Munger (@yinandtonic) to provide an unforgettable experience of experience that goes beyond the saddle. Together we will explore some of the most remote country in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, learn the fundamentals of backcountry packing and stock travel, build lasting connections with like-minded women and leave with the confidence and skills to venture further into the backcountry.

A four day, backcountry experience.

One night in base camp, two nights in backcountry camp on a pack trip, four days of riding and backcountry camping in Wyoming.

This Cowgirl Camp weekend is for women who want a deeper backcountry experience, packing into the mountains on horse back and camping with horses in the wilderness. You will get hands on learning, and an overnight backcountry pack trip camping experience.

Whether you’re looking to build confidence, gain practical backcountry horsemanship skills or simply enjoy the magic of mountain trails, this four day Cowgirl Camp is the perfect mix of adventure, learning and connection.

Thursday

Cowgirl Camp activities start at about noon.

  • Bear Aware and Leave No Trace education

  • Meet our equine partners for the weekend and head out for an afternoon ride

  • Learn how to plan safe, enjoyable backcountry rides with horses. Education ranges from map and resource use to planning the packing essentials.

  • Enjoy a hearty dinner with the crew and other guests followed by time around the campfire.

  • Retire to glamping tents at basecamp

Friday

  • Coffee is on at 7, breakfast at 8

  • Watch a packing demonstration and learn how gear is balanced and loaded for travel in the backcountry

  • Grab a sack lunch and depart on horseback for a day of riding to location for the overnight backcountry pack trip

  • Arrive at backcountry campsite, set up tents and settle into backcountry camp

  • Spend the afternoon learning practical backcountry skills, including stock retention.

  • Evening open fire cooking lesson and demonstration then dinner

  • Time around the fire.

  • Retire to tents

Saturday

  • Wake up in the backcountry coffee is on at 7, breakfast at 8

  • Pack education continued

  • Saddle up for a full day ride through the wilderness taking in mountain views, wildlife habitat, and miles of beautiful country.

  • Ride back into backcountry camp in the afternoon

  • Enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner, good company and time to unwind.

  • Retire to tents

Sunday

  • Wake up in the backcountry coffee is on at 7, breakfast at 8

  • Tack up and take individual portraits with you and your horse

  • Ride back into base camp

  • Group photos and farewells

Where is Wyoming Cowgirl Camp?

Cowgirl Camp Wyoming basecamp is located about an hour and twenty minutes from Jackson, WY.

We are based in the Bridger Teton National Forest, about five minutes from the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park.

We’re right between Yellowstone and Grand Teton, which makes it easy to access both parks while staying in a more quiet, backcountry setting.

There is a gas station and convenience store at Flagg Ranch about four minutes by car from our camp. Colter Bay is 30 minutes from us.
